AEW Dynamite Grand Slam Results Sept 20, 2023. TBS will broadcast episode number 207 of AEW Dynamite today, September 20 , live from Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.
Claudio charges with a Big Boot, Eddie dodges it and responds with Chops. Castagnoli stops Eddie with a Gutwrench Bomb after an exchange of blows at ringside. Eddie applies a German Suplex and looks for the Backfist, Claudio covers him with a headbutt and applies a Side Suplex on the ramp. Claudio stomps on Eddie’s hand, returns him to the ring with a Lariat and looks for height, Kingston approaches to shorten the distance but Claudio jumps to step on him. Kingston avoids a Diving Headbutt but receives a hard Uppercut for a two count.
TKO by Claudio for another two count. Claudio kicks Eddie when he is on his knees, lifts him up looking for an Uppercut but Eddie responds with a Backslide. Enziguri, Exploder Suplex and Saito Suplex for a two count on Claudio. Machine Gun Chops by Eddie, Claudio advances defiantly and receives a right hand from Eddie. Chops, punches, Uppercuts, no champion gives in to his enemy’s blows. Rain of elbows from Claudio, he looks for the Riccola Bomb but Eddie reverses with a pin, Claudio then with one of his own. Claudio’s uppercut. 1…2…no! Claudio’s Riccola Bomb. 1…2…no!
Kingston receives an Uppercut but responds with two Hurricanes. Suplex, another Hurricane and Northern Lights Bomb. 1…2…no! Eddie looks for a Piledriver, Claudio escapes but receives a Hurricane that hurts Eddie’s own hand. Kingston powerbomb and one last pin. 1…2…3!
After the match, Claudio Castagnoli extends his hand as a sign of respect to Eddie Kingston, before leaving him his ROH championship.
The Kingdom is shown accompanying Roderick Strong in the hospital. Adam Cole shows up to visit Roddy, Taven and Bennett look tense at Cole arriving so late and just when they have to leave. Adam says that he also has to leave to accompany MJF in his fight against Samoa Joe. Strong lifts his stretcher a little to tell him to just leave, leaving him alone and sad in his room.
Christian Cage and Luchasaurus are interviewed backstage. Cage assures that they will finish off Sting and Darby Allin this Friday at AEW Rampage Grand Slam. Cage challenges Darby: a three-way match against him and Luchasaurus for the TNT Championship. If he accepts, Sting will not be able to be at ringside.
Exchange of blows at the beginning of the fight, Sammy takes advantage of a trip by Chris to take control and pose, Jericho poses with him as when they team up. Guevara avoids a Dropkick making Jericho fall from the ring, connects with a Corkscrew Plancha and a Crossbody upon returning to the ring. Chris responds with a Suplex from the edge of the ring outwards and they both lie there. Chris takes Sammy to the corner, connects several blows and a Super Hurricanrana but it is not enough.
Sammy responds with a Spanish Fly, Jericho connects a Lariat to prevent his rival’s advance. Sammy hits a Codebreaker for a two count. Guevara takes him out of the ring and flies in a Moonsault from above. Chris blocks a GTH and goes to the Walls of Jericho. Sammy manages to escape with great effort. Avalanche Cutter by Sammy for a two count. Chris receives a Top Rope Lionsault from Sammy with his knees, he responds with a Lionsault of his own but it is not enough. Rising Knee Strike and GTH from Sammy, but he doesn’t look for the account. Shooting Star Press that Jericho receives with a Codebreaker in mid-flight to take the victory.
After the fight, Sammy Guevara and Chris Jericho hug each other. Sammy Guevara delivers a low blow to Jericho! Don Callis goes out for Guevara and leaves with him.
Earlier, MJF arrives at the arena and sends a message to Samoa Joe. He says he’s held a grudge for 8 years since Joe pushed him. “Tonight I will hang you before my people, and the last thing you will hear when you only see black is MJF, because we are better than you…”, MJF said to give Cole the foot, but the phone rings. Roderick Strong seems to be having an emergency and Cole runs out.
Renee Paquette attempts to interview Don Callis and Sammy Guevara regarding their union, but Callis says she will talk about this on Friday at AEW Rampage Grand Slam. They both come across Daniel Garcia, who immediately confronts Sammy Guevara, but Callis stops him saying that the boy is worth gold.
Fenix and Jon don’t wait to get to the ring to beat each other. Rey pushes himself on the rope to land a kick and flies towards him with a Tope from the ramp jumping over a cameraman. Upon reaching the ring the bell rings and the fight officially begins. Fenix advances with a spin towards Mox and he stops him with a blow. Jon gets ahead of Fenix’s flashy moves with his tough attacks and takes the action to ringside.
Fenix looks to jump off the barricade, Jon pushes him and applies a Hanging DDT. Rey Fenix connects three kicks and a Cutter when returning to the ring but it is not enough, nor is the Frog Splash that Fenix applies immediately. Fenix flies from the corner towards Mox hanging on the barricade. Paradigm Shift by Mox and a two count on the challenger.
Diving Foot Stomp by Fenix, who barely has the strength to try to cover Mox. Stomp Fenix on the ringside stage and another Gotch Style Piledriver, but Fenix resists. They struggle in the heights, Fenix knocks down Mox and flies into Atomic Senton. Fire Thunder Driver by Fenix and a somewhat strange two count since Mox’s movement is not seen. Another Fire Thunder Driver and Fenix takes the victory.
Samoa Joe sends a message to MJF, saying that he will finish him off in front of his people and become the new champion.
Toni tries to talk to Saraya, but the champion yells at her and slaps her several times. Storm attacks Chops but is distracted by Ruby Soho, Saraya takes advantage and lands a kick. Toni Storm goes under the ring and comes out with two shoes to attack Soho. Storm hits Saraya with a heel without the referee seeing her, but does not achieve the count of three. Saraya applies a Hangin DDT on the ramp and another in the ring.
Sunset Flip Bomb by Saraya for a two count. Toni removes the protectors in the corner and takes the paint spray but Soho takes it away and passes it to Saraya without the referee seeing it. Saraya sprays Storm and connects with the Night Cap but Storm resists. Saraya hits Storm in that corner, but not against the unprotected part. Toni gives Saraya a kiss and connects the Storm Zero. 1…2…no! Storm misses a Hip Attack and hits the unprotected part, Saraya finishes with the Night Cap to take the victory.
In a short opening video for MJF, a child encourages him before leaving. MJF approaches, leaves him his scarf and whispers something in his ear. As he leaves, the boy asks his father if he is adopted.
MJF applies a poke to the eyes and jumps on Joe, who knocks him down causing him to hit his neck on the mat. Samoa Joe stomps on Max’s neck and beats him into a corner. Joe continues to punish MJF who at the moment cannot respond. Joe goes for the Muscle Buster but Max escapes looking for a pin. MJF advances with several Lariats but Joe does not fall, instead he applies one that knocks Max down, although it is not enough. Samoa tears Joe’s shirt and hits him superbly.
MJF fires up and punches Joe in the corner, then bites his forehead. MJF’s Kangaroo Kick that continues to grow in the match. Max prepares to fly but Joe receives him with a kick and applies a brutal Death Valley Driver on the edge of the ring. Joe applies a Uranage on a table leaning against the barricade, but Max resists the count when they return to the ring. Samoa removes the protection from a part of ringside and seeks to continue his punishment there. MJF bites Joe’s leg to escape, tries to pick him up but his neck hurts and makes him let go of Joe. Piledriver to MJF on the unprotected floor!
Staff come to tend to MJF, but Joe pushes them away and returns to the ring to cover the champion, who not only resists but also spits in Joe’s face. Liger Bomb by MJF and a two count on Joe. Samoa looks for a Sleeperhold but Max grabs hold of the referee and applies a low kick without being seen. MJF takes his Diamond Ring and charges towards Joe, who puts the referee in front of him to shield himself. The referee sees the ring and takes it away. Joe takes the opportunity to apply a low kick and the Muscle Buster.
Samoa Joe closes a Sleeperhold that has MJF on the verge of falling unconscious. Adam Cole comes running to support his brush and Max escapes from the key. In a clash between MJF and Joe, the referee falls out of the ring to avoid them. MJF takes a tape off his wrist and uses it to choke Joe. When the referee returns, he doesn’t see that MJF is using an object to choke Joe, who falls unconscious before MJF’s hold.
After the fight, Samoa Joe advances angrily against Adam Cole, but MJF steps in to defend him. Joe shakes MJF’s hand and leaves the ring.
