CM Punk Officially Fired by AEW ! CM Punk has always been a controversial figure in the wrestling industry. Whether it’s working out on WWE or having backstage fights in AEW.
This past weekend CM Punk was involved in a backstage alternation with Jack Perry at AEW All In London. All this happened in front of AEW GM Tony Khan. Where the flight took place.
AEW had launched an investigation for this Incident and both CM Punk & Jack Perry were suspended from All Elite Wrestling. This week at the start of AEW collision Tony Khan made a huge announcement that AEW has terminated their contract with CM Punk. Saying :
“Today I had to make one of the toughest decisions in my professional career. Today I terminated Phil Brooks aka CM Punk for a cause. This stems from a backstage incident at AEW All In this Sunday. The incident was regrettable and endangered people backstage. Which includes the production staff and the people who help put on this show every week, innocent people who had nothing to do with it.”
This is a huge announcement by Tony Khan that they are separating their ways with CM Punk. AEW also put on a press release clarifying the situation and the termination of contract. The press release said:
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has terminated the wrestler and employment agreements between Phillip Brooks (CM Punk) and AEW with cause, effective immediately. The termination was confirmed today by Tony Khan, CEO, General Manager and Head of Creative of AEW.
The termination follows a weeklong internal investigation of an incident occurring back stage at AEW – All In London on Sunday, August 27. Following the investigation. The AEW Discipline Committee met and later convened with outside legal counsel. Before making a unanimous recommendation to Khan that CM Punk be terminated with cause.
