AEW Nears New Media Deal with Warner Bros Discovery. AEW (All Elite Wrestling) is reportedly close to finalizing a new media deal with Warner Bros Discovery (WBD). The deal is expected to be a 4-year agreement, with three years guaranteed and a one-year option. John Ourand of *Puck News* has reported that the annual value of the deal is around $170 million. This would mark a significant increase from AEW’s current contract. Which is estimated at about $70 million annually.
As part of the new deal, AEW programming will air on TNT, TBS, and TruTV, with broadcasts twice a week. WBD’s strategy involves making TruTV more sports-focused, marking a shift for the network. An official announcement could come as soon as next week, barring any last-minute changes.
This could include a new show on TruTV and potentially another show on WBD’s Max streaming service. If these additional shows come to fruition, AEW would have five weekly programs. AEW Dynamite would remain on TBS, while AEW Rampage and AEW Collision would continue airing on TNT. The new TruTV show and a potential Max streaming series would represent a massive expansion in AEW’s weekly lineup.
If this expansion happens, AEW will need to manage five shows per week. It would be a major logistical challenge for the company, which already produces hours of wrestling content each week. Managing talent, storylines, and production schedules will be key to sustaining such a growth in programming.
Notably, AEW is also pitching an additional content package to broadcast networks. However, there’s no mention yet of how AEW content may be integrated into Max. WrestleNomics’ Brandon Thurston shared that this additional content makes direct comparisons with AEW’s current deal difficult.
