Tony Khan Talks on AEW Moving off Wednesday Nights

Tony Khan Talks on AEW Moving off Wednesday Nights. Since the start of AEW in 2019, Wednesday Nights has been the premier night of AEW Dynamite shows. AEW has scored one of the best viewerships on Wednesday Night even though against WWE’s NXT show. During the wednesday night wars also AEW Dynamite scored nearly millions of viewership.

Recently the news broke that Turner Sports recently signed a huge deal to broadcast the NHL. Which is worth over $225 million per season. As a result AEW Dynamite will likely change their regular TV night because Wednesday Nights is often considered a great night for NHL. AEW chairman Tony Khan has also spoken on the current situation that AEW is in. In his recent interview he was asked about the current situation regarding AEW’s Wednesday Nights time slot. While speaking on this situation he said :

Tony Khan Talks on AEW Moving off Wednesday Nights

“I know Wednesday night is our slot and our home. I’m thrilled with our partnership with TNT. It’s the lifeblood of our company and our primary revenue source. It’s the way most fans get exposed to AEW and see our show. Every Wednesday that we do Dynamite, for a lot of wrestling fans, it’s a really important night of the week.”

“I want everyone rest assured that they’re not going to have to worry about these kinds of major….we have a contract with over two and a half years left for Wednesday nights in this slot. If there was ever an opportunity to move or a deal to be had, I would consider it. If we did something, it would have to be a really good deal for AEW and make sense for us. As it stands right now, that is the spot we’re in. If we move, I would certainly consider a deal if there was something in it for AEW.”

By this statement Tony Khan has clarified his thoughts on AEW and their current TV time slot. AEW’s current deal with TNT is for three years in the wednesday night slot. Due to some reasons AEW had to change their TV time but it was not the permanent case. Now it seems like TNT might be changing AEW’s time slot but the contract says AEW has to be on Wednesday Nights. Tony Khan is ready to take any change if that favours AEW but if AEW’s time slot changes then we will have to see what will be AEW’s Next TV time.
