AEW Rampage Could Be Cancelled in New TV Deal. AEW Rampage, one of All Elite Wrestling’s weekly TV shows, might be on the chopping block as part of AEW’s new media deal with Warner Bros Discovery (WBD). Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer recently discussed the possibility of Rampage being discontinued. According to one source, there’s a strong indication that the show may not be continued in AEW’s new lineup.
Rampage has been airing on TNT since 2021 as AEW’s secondary program after Dynamite. However, with the new TV deal, AEW appears to be shifting focus to a different direction. A new third show, reportedly called AEW Shockwave, is being discussed as a replacement for Rampage. Meltzer stated that Shockwave would be the show AEW plans to shop around to other major networks, including FOX.
He noted that AEW is currently pitching another TV package, primarily to broadcast channels. This means AEW could be targeting major networks like ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, Telemundo, Univision, CW, or ION. If successful, AEW could significantly expand its reach beyond cable television.
AEW Shockwave seems to be at the center of these talks, as AEW looks to diversify its programming. The show would be AEW’s third major program, following Dynamite and Collision, which currently air on TNT and TBS.
Canceling Rampage in favor of Shockwave would be a strategic move, especially as AEW works to secure a larger audience through broadcast networks. This potential change signals a major shift in AEW’s approach to programming, with a focus on expanding beyond its established platforms.
If Rampage is indeed canceled, it will mark the end of one of AEW’s early ventures into additional weekly content, but also the beginning of a new phase in AEW’s growing media presence.
