AEW Dynamite Results January 17, 2024. Samoa Joe puts the AEW World Championship at stake against Hook. TBS broadcast episode number 224 of AEW Dynamite today, January 17 , live from the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, SC.

TNT Championship Match:

Christian Cage (c) vs. Dustin Rhodes

The public supports Dustin from the beginning. Dustin tries to take control by cornering Christian, who for the moment is only avoiding his challenger. Cage advances with slaps and blows, Rhodes stops him with a Powerslam that makes the champion leave the ring. Dustin takes control at ringside, Christian responds by flying out of the corner after smashing Dustin’s face into the post. Christian continues attacking when he returns to the ring, Killswitch takes advantage of the fact that the referee can’t see to attack Dustin.

Rhodes gets some offense and looks for the count after a Running Bulldog. Code Red and another two count on Cage. Dustin looks for a Tope but Christian stops him with a blow, then hurts his neck against the rope. Frog Splash and a two count on Dustin. Cage takes the title, the referee takes it from him and Dustin looks for the count with a Roll Up. Nick Wayne enters the ring to change the situation and make Christian cover, but it is not enough. Natural Kick and CrossRhodes for Cage, the count is very close to three.

Canadian Destroyer by Dustin to Nick at ringside. Spear and Killswitch for a two count. Cage applies a second Killswitch and takes the victory.

Winner: Christian Cage .

Swerve Strickland is interviewed by Renee Paquette. Swerve says he has his eyes everywhere, and he would be a fool if he wasn’t keeping an eye on the main event. “I’m determined to go for the AEW World Championship,” Swerve says, stating that he is the most dangerous man after the top prize. Renee mentions Hangman Adam Page as another man behind the title, Swerve reiterates that he has eyes everywhere. Strickland remembers Page’s several victories, and believes he would have a chance, but has yet to beat him. “I have nothing to prove,” he closes before saying his sentence.

Chris Jericho is interviewed by Renee Paquette. Jericho wants to use objects like barbed wire, glass or even a pizza cutter against Takeshita, he wants to go after him and destroy him. Matt Sydal approaches to say that he has to overcome the defeat, that he knows him and to overcome it he has to beat him in the ring, someone who has already beaten him in the past. Jericho says that maybe he needs a fight, but warns him that he is very aggressive. He accepts the challenge for Rampage.

Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta vs. Komander & Penta The Zero Fear

Orange and Penta begin the match, with Penta completely underestimating his opponent. They exchange Armdrags and dodge some moves before Penta asks for the tag. Komander enters with a flight and then launches a Suicidal Top on Orange. Trent catches him at ringside and applies a Half and Half Suplex. Beretta takes control and punishes Komander against the barricade. Orange, with his hands in his pockets, kicks Komander.

Komander dodges a kick from Orange and takes Trent out of the ring. Penta takes over and attacks Orange with Slingblades. Suicidal Top from Komander and Made in Japan from Penta to Orange. Komander tries to surprise Trent with several pins, but Beretta escapes. Kick by Penta and Canadian Destroyer, Komander walks the ropes to launch himself at Trent but Orange saves him just in time. Trent dodges a Phoenix Splash and charges with Running Knee.

Orange saves Trent and applies the Beach Break to Penta. Orange Punch for Komander and Trent finishes off with the Strong Zero to give his team the victory.

Winners: Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta .

After the fight, Roderick Strong and The Kingdom come out to the ring. Strong speaks up and says that Orange has heard him say this to other people, but he came to say it to his face. “Take off your glasses and look me in the eyes,” Strong demands. Roddy asks him if the International Championship is too much for Orange, if he thinks he doesn’t have enough to keep it and knows that Strong is coming for him. “It belongs to me, I’m going after it, and I’m here for you to deal with it,” Roderick says. Cassidy agrees to fight, right now. Roderick says not now, that he will have to wait until March 3 at Revolution. “I want the next few weeks to live with that, waking up every day knowing that you are keeping the title warm for me,” Strong closes.

Hangman Adam Page is interviewed. He says that he not only wants to win the title, but he will do it and put his name to it to keep it there for as long as he can. Renee asks about Swerve’s words. “I don’t think about him at all, but if he thinks I can’t beat him, that doesn’t matter. Because you’re not the champion, Samoa Joe is. Maybe today Hook will be if he can be,” she closes.

One year after the death of his brother Jay Briscoe , Mark Briscoe comes out on stage. Mark talks about the accident that his brother suffered, where he lost his life and his nieces received severe injuries, they even said that one would not be able to walk again. The girls come out showing that they have improved, Mark says that they will not stop and send love and blessings to everyone.

The Young Bucks are interviewed by Renee Paquette. Matt talks about the beginning of AEW, when they felt like they were changing the world. He says that then the toxic came in and things changed. “We started looking towards superficial superstars of the past,” he shoots, “but Sting is nothing like that, he’s great, an exemplary employee.” Sting is the last of his kind, the image of him is not what we want here. We will have to say goodbye to him and everyone like him. We would never ask anyone for something we wouldn’t do ourselves,” he says.

Match for the ROH World Trios Championships:

Brian Cage & Gates of Agony (Kaun & Toa Liona) (c) vs. Bullet Club Gold (Jay White, Colten & Austin Gunn)

Jay and Toa begin the fight, although Jay throws more blows, Toa overcomes him with his power. Colten goes on to fight with Brian Cage, who applies a German Suplex to take control. Colten finally manages to take over from Austin, who attacks all opponents with Clotheslines and Dropkick. White advances with Chops and Uranage on Kaun, Cage stops him with a Discus Lariat. 3.10 to Yuma for Cage, Kaun takes both Gunns out of the ring.

Prince Nana grabs Jay’s foot to take him down, Gutbuster by Kaun for a very close three count. Prince Nana enters the ring but Anthony Bowens comes out to stop him. White avoids Kaun’s shot, surprises him with his Bladerunner and takes the victory.

Winners and new champions: Bullet Club Gold.

Adam Cole says that Wardlow will be one of the most important fighters, and he will finish everyone off until there is nothing left but the championship, which will then be owned by the Undisputed Kingdom, he says.

Anna Jay vs. Deonna Purrazzo

Toni Storm joins the commentary table during the match. Deonna punishes Anna’s arm, who responds and aggressively takes control. Anna steps on Deonna’s hand and lands blows with her forearm. Backstabber and a two count on Deonna. Anna looks for the Queenslayer, Deonna escapes looking for a key to her arm but Jay reaches the ropes to free herself from her. 

They exchange blows, Purrazzo dodges and surprises with the Venus de Milo to take the victory.

Winner: Deonna Purrazzo .

After the fight, Renee Paquette interviews Deonna Purrazzo. The Virtuosa speaks to Toni Storm, saying that she has known her for a long time and they used to be like sisters to her. “I see you’ve changed, but so have I. You may have been friends with Deonna Purrazzo, but you never met the greatest technical wrestler in the world. The Virtuosa,” Deonna says.

Storm gets upset with Purrazzo and ends up throwing a shoe at him. Luther takes Storm on his shoulders.

Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marc Quen) vs. Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin)

Even start between Isiah and Darius, demonstrating their skill and agility. Tags to both sides, Marc looks to hurt Dante’s previously injured ankle. Kassidy comes in with a Crossbody and applies Cutter to Darius. Top Flight reacts and keeps Kassidy away from his corner. Isiah responds with kicks, takes Top Flight out of the ring and takes over for Quen to fly over both rivals several times, from side to side of the ring.

450 Splash and count of two on Dante. Top Flight combination but Isiah saves his partner just in time. Exchange of kicks between Kassidy and Dante, Quen joins in for the Gin & Juice. Quen looks for the count leaning on the ropes and takes the victory.

Winners: Private Party .

AEW World Championship Match:

Samoa Joe (c) vs. Hook

The bell rings and Hook charges at the champion. The action quickly moves to ringside and turns back and forth. Back in the ring, Joe stops him with a Tackle and unleashes a number of blows in the corner. Hook launches himself with a right hand towards ringside, Joe applies a brutal Uranage on the commentary table. Joe then applies a Powerbomb on the edge of the ring. Hook is checked by a doctor after Joe’s harsh attacks.

Hook returns to the ring before the count of ten, Samoa applies a powerslam but it is not enough. Death Valley Driver and another two count. Muscle Buster for Hook. Count one! Samoa Joe can’t believe it. Hook charges Clotheslines, hits three and corners Joe. T-Bone Suplex for the champion, Hook looks for the Redrum but escapes and goes to the Coquina Clutch. Hook falls unconscious!

Winner: Samoa Joe .

After the fight, while trying to stand up Hook yells at Joe if that’s all he has. Samoa returns to the ring to kick him and apply a Muscle Buster. Joe leaves but Hook challenges him again.

Hangman Adam Page comes out to scare Joe away ! While Page stands defiantly in the ring, helping Hook, Samoa Joe leaves. Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana are seen in the audience, watching everything. As the AEW Dynamite went off Air.
